Beef Lasagna oh la la

10 Mar

It’s been a while since I posted any new recipe that I’ve tried out.

Tonight, I want to share with you how easy it is to make your own lasagna.

I’ve tasted chicken lasagna at Secret Recipe which cost me around 12 bucks for a small plate. It was okay but I believed with another 20 bucks added to the 12 bucks, you can eat a whole lot more of lasagna and be satisfied with what you eat.

Easy. It’s like this. Homemade cooking = save money and extra satisfaction 🙂

So, last three weekends, I made a tray of lasagna. And it’s so damn easy to do. Trust me. Easy to do!

I used San Remo’s Instant Lasagna where you can find easily at any supermarket. Before this I thought it was difficult to find lasagna sheets but actually it’s in front of my eyes. I just missed it that inch! You can find it at the pasta section, along with spaghetti, macaronis etc etc

This is how the sheet looks like. You don’t need to boil it like the spaghetti. We use this sheet once the sauce is ready. So just leave it in the box until it’s needed.

For the recipe, I just used the back cover Simple Meal Idea recipe from the same box. Easy yo.

See it’s all written there. You just need to read it and follow the instructions 🙂 Super easy!

Basically, for lasagna, it’s all about the sauce. You have to make two sauces. The meat sauce and the cheese sauce. For the meat sauce, you can straightly use the spaghetti sauce (the ones in the jar like Prego) and heat it up. But firstly all you need to do is sautee the finely chopped onion and garlic.  After that, throw in the carrots and minced beef and sautee it until cook.

After the beef is slightly changed its colour to brown, pour in the spaghetti sauce and season it well with salt, oregano and some chicken stock. Stir it well until it cooks.

Oh, I did add 3 tablespoon of tomato sauce, just to have a sour taste to the sauce.

So the beef sauce is done in about 10 minutes!  Leave it there under slow heat. Let it simmers and the flavors will be intensely delicious!

So, moving on with the cheese sauce.  For cheese sauce, you can use either mozarella or cheddar cheese. I use cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella though I bought both of them.

First step is to melt the butter, about 2 tablespoon. Next add 2 tablespoon of flour and stir it gently for about 2 minutes over slow heat.  Remove from the heat, add 2 cups of milk. Return to heat and stir it continuously until it becomes thick.

Must be this thick okay…

It’s time for the cheddar cheese to work. Add in the cheese to the mixture over medium heat,

and mix them well until it turns out to be gooey. Season with salt and pepper.

Alright, the cheese sauce is done!

This would take about another 10 minutes to complete.

So 20 minutes for both sauces.

Preheat your oven at 180 c.

It’s time for the layering part!

Grease your baking tray with a bit of butter. You must start layering your tray with meat sauce first,  then arrange the lasagna sheet on top of the meat sauce and finish it off with cheese sauce.

Beef sauce at the bottom and lasagna sheet on top

and layer with cheese sauce.

Repeat the step until you got 4 layers of beef sauce, lasagna and cheese sauce. Most importantly is to keep the lasagna moist so more beef sauce is going to help you to achieve the desired lasagna.

Oh before I forget, finish it off with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Bake in the oven for about 35-40 minutes or until cook. Mom taught me to cover the tray with aluminium foil before you throw it in the oven. Why? So your oven won’t get dirty when the cheese melts down.

In the oven now.

And 4o minutes later, it’s done!

So 20 minutes plus 40 minutes, an hour altogether to prepare this comfort food 🙂

Nyum! Happy trying guys!

Eat me eat me :p

So easy and you can keep it in the fridge and preheat it in the microwave if there’s any leftovers 🙂

Do try ya 🙂

Till then.

Cousin’s Wedding :)

10 Mar

I guess my mood of blogging has suddenly erupted. Most probably I’ll be blogging more tonight. Lepas geram. Grrrr…

So this entry was meant for last week update. But because I was so lazy and plus tired, the entry is pending.

The wedding took place last week. Many congratulations to my dearie cousin, Tengku Sapinah, or Kak Pinah.

She tied the knot on Thursday’s afternoon and sadly I didn’t managed to attend the ceremony as I was still at school at that time.  Bummer.

But the kenduri was held on Saturday and Alhamdulillah I managed to be there for her majlis 🙂

Just some snapshot on that day. I was everywhere, from the kitchen to the front, making myself looked busy ;p

The Kad Jemputan Kahwin. So simple. I kept it because I wanted to paste my timetable onto the card.

Her house is just milestone from my grandmom’s house. Neighbors to be exact ;p

The hantaran on that day. Minimalistic and simplicity were the main goal. Everything was just perfect.

Here comes the bride and groom. And oh oh, see the bunga telur? I fold them you know. So that’s my contribution to the pelamin ;p

See, my fingers turned pink because of the eggs. :p

As expected, the relatives were asking me when is my turn? So I diverted the question to my mom and walked quickly and gracefully out from the room ;p

Anyway, I wish my cousin and her husband to be happy for the rest of their life. Can’t wait for their babies to come :p

On a side of note: Me want to tawen-tawen too.

Salam dearies, I’m back =)

3 Feb

Guys, how are you been doing?

Apologize for being absent. I was so occupied for the past few days.

The whole family members are here and entertaining to their needs has become the first priority now for me at the moment of I’m typing this.

For this entry, I am using Ipad. My Goc, it is not that easy to use this gadget. I need more training yo!

I’ve been cooking and trying few new recipes and I would love to share it here. Perhaps in another entries to come, I will write some of them.

I think that’s all for now. I’m so sleepy now. It is all because of the reunion dinner that I had just now.

Till then, love you.

Holiday me: Jannah 😉

My little secret :)

14 Jan

Not a sign of raining tonight and the situation in Brisbane is looking good now. So Alhamdulillah.

I’m a bit shy actually to post this entry, as it is my little secret. But, put that aside, I’m going to spill it out here.

As some of you might have known me, I am a chubby girl.

And being chubby comes with a package.

A whole set of flabby tummy and thigh.

I have to admit that, and I am not ashamed by the way my body is.

I’ve been consuming Herbalife, which I got great result! I lost almost 6 kilos last year and I did enroll to aerobic class which totally helped me to get the number that I desire.

Therefore, as a result, some of the areas in my body have become flabby.

It didn’t look that much appealing when I look at those areas.

Until I watched Oprah show (last year) which talked about getting good figure under your clothes.

Oprah Winfrey invited Sara Blakely, the creator behind this product, called Spanx, in her show after she discovered this product and been raving about it ever since- the Spanx pantyhose.

And at instant, I got hooked with this brand.

What is Spanx btw?

Spanx is a some sort of clothing helps you to get your desire body shape by wearing a vast selection slimming intimates, comfortable body shapers, shaping hosiery & tights, apparel and much more. Once you wear it, it makes you look a size smaller, got rid of the panty line and smooth everything out.

No more flabby tummy and thighs!

Realizing upon that fact which it hides flabby tummy and thighs, I decided to have my own Spanx.

Yet, at that time (last year), I have no extra money to purchase it until early of November 2010.

I managed to get quite a good bargain price from this online store,, that sells variety of Spanx product.

Being a virgin to Spanx’s, I have no idea what to choose, but she helped me out by suggesting me to get the Super Higher Spanx.

And so I did!

The package arrived early this January after been waiting for almost 3 weeks from US.

and it comes with this cute card..

So, I’ve been wearing it for the past two weeks to school and you know what, every colleague that I met, EVERYONE asked me why I’m so “kurus” (oh I won’t say skinny because I’m not skinny). They noticed the differences in my body shape I supposed.

But hey, I won’t tell them that I’m wearing Spanx 😛 That’s my secret! (although I blew it out here ;p)

yz6w.jpgme wearing Spanx

It’s so easy to wear and easy to wash. Normally I wash it every couple of nights with my body wash foam because I only wore it for like 7 hours.

I feel like getting  my second Spanx sooner.  :p

Go and check out this product as it won’t fail you down. But again, to get great body, eat good food and workouts are vital!

Healthy Food+ Regular Workouts + Spanx = Ohsemmmmm body!!

(oh I’m not talking about myself here. Didn’t get that ohseemmm body yet)

Orait, there you go, my secret.

Enjoy your weekend!

Professor Slughorn

7 Jan

I am currently watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for the gazillion times now.

And apart from Harry Potter himself, another character that I like is Professor Slughorn.

Professor Horace E. F. Slughorn was the Potion master and Head of Slytherin House.

The reason why I like him is because of the way he talks. So bersopan santun I must say and caring and lovable and genius too.

And because of his softness, it’s so easy for Tom Riddle to manipulate him.

Too bad 😦

I have my wand. Avada Kedavra

Beside him, I also love love loveeeeee Luna Lovegood! She is such a sweet darl! Perky yet soft spoken. Really enjoy her presence in the movie.

But check this out yo

Whooaaa, excessive use of magic, I supposed?

Anyway, I do enjoy this movie a lot regardless how many times I have watched it.

Till then,

My first day in school

3 Jan

How’s everyone been going on?

And for teachers, how’s your day?

Mine was fantastic!

But it was bit tired though.

I had 6 periods today which accumulated to 180 minutes.

My first period was at 9.30 am till 10.30 am and continued at 11.30 am until 1.30 pm

And I was so extremely exhausted, not by the kids, but the journey to the class.

Imagine I have to walk fast from this block

to the other side of this block.

Year 6 Soleh is on the top floor, left.

And my sandal is killing me!

Anyway, today’s lessons were quite okay. Just nice to start the year and Insyallah end it with a bang!

Insyallah Insyallah

I even managed to make teaching material for my Year 4 Soleh 🙂

And they love it so much!

You see, one thing that I learnt during college and last year when handling the weaker pupils was to have teaching materials, just to get their attention and make them motivated to learn.  So alhamdulillah, even though I took 10 minutes to prepare them, they were engaged to the materials.

Hahaha, my handwriting was so poor :p

Anyway, this lesson is an introduction to the first topic “What Do You Like” (Year 4).  I used this short poem and read to them. Since they were in the last class, I decided to read every line and described the meaning behind each line. I pasted the lines of poem on the last year’s calendar. It made me easy to read the other lines by just flipping the calendar.

To make the poem became more understandable, I also have 5 fish cards and I selected 5 pupils to hold the cards. When the little fish got caught, one of them have to put down the card and we counted together how many little fish that were left.

Yeap, you might think that it’s like a lesson for preschoolers but mind you that  most of them can’t read and write so the lesson needed to cater to their level. But that didn’t mean that they will always be at the same level. One step at one time baby. You can’t push them to much otherwise they will disengaged and demotivated to learn.

I continued the lesson by explaining to them the reason why I chose this poem. I told them that I like fish. I like to eat fish. This story involves with fish. So what do you like to do?

They started to give response which surprised me a lot. Anyway, I wrote their response on the blackboard and continued with teaching them how to write a simple sentence.

For example:

~ I like to play ____

~ I like to eat ____

They just have to fill the blanks with the list given and they have to draw a picture to describe the object.

That’s it.

Just enough for an hour lesson. Quite simple but hopefully they learn something.

Okay signing off for now 🙂 Putting my thinking hat and start to think what I want to do tomorrow.

Be safe ya 🙂
